UK-based Pakistani parents were arrested recently for murdering their 17-year old daughter, Shafilea Ahmed by suffocation for allegedly refusing arranged marriage and for her indecent dressing.

Shafilea Ahmed, 17, was suffocated to death by her own father and mother with a plastic bag back in 2003.

Shafilea’s little sister, Alesha bravely told jurors how her parents killed her sister during their murder conviction case on Friday August 3rd, 2012.

49 year old Farzana Ahmed and his wife Iftikhar, 52 were sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of their own daughter.

Farzana’s cousins from Uttam village in Pakistan were also sentenced to 25 years in prison for their involvement in Shafilea’s murder.

“She was being squeezed between two cultures — the culture and way of life that she saw around her and wanted to embrace, and
the culture and way of life you wanted to impose on her,” Evans said during the sentencing at the Chester Crown Court in northwest England. In Britain, more than 25 women have been killed in so-called “honor killings” in the past decade
